Weezee's Wanderings

Hi, I'm Weezee.  I am a 39 yr old wife, mother of 2 (4yr and 2yr) and a hospice nurse. I was an only child.  I live a very busy existance, but also need an outlet from time to time.  I have a small family that seems to be getting smaller by the minute, a Grandmother who has mid stages of Alzehimer's, an uncle who is unable to care for himself and Grandma and he refuse to move in with us so we can help care for them.  I have quite a load on me sometimes.

I make it through all of this because of God.  He has provided me a wonderful support system in my husband and my best friend.

A little about my best friend... She and I have been friends for 26 years now and best friends for almost all of it.  She is married and has 3 teens and 1 almost teen.  Her family is my family.  Her parents are my parents.  She has helped me through may things, the biggest ones that come to mind are the death of my mom, almost 8 years ago, my wedding, and she was there to see the birth of my son.

My husband is really wonderful.  Sure we have our differences, but all in all he's very good to me.  We met on EHarmony .com.  Now let me tell you I never thought I'd meet God's soul mate for me on the computer, but it happened.  A lady at church told me about it and gave me a copy of  Focus on the Family where the president of it was on, and I figured why not.  I let the initial time lapse with out even finding a match and got one of those crazy "come back to us" deals where it was 6 mo for the price of 1mo, or something like that.  I figured why not and we were matched up.  The rest is history.  Our first date was on New Years Eve 8 years ago tonight.  I knew half way through the date that he was the one I would marry.  11 weeks later we were engaged. Those 11 weeks were more like 3 years, there was so much packed in them.  Mom died on Jan 15th and then we had several other challenges that brought us closer. We got married on my 33rd birthday.  That was the best birthday present ever!  Over the years he has always been there for me and helps me with the housework, the kids and my family.  He works full time too.  He is a manager for a retail party supply store and puts in about 50-60 hrs a week.  He's funny and sarcastic and caring all at the same time.

A little about my background.  I was raised mostly by my Grandma and Great Aunt.  My mom was in the picture, but had me early and kept trying to make up for missing out on her teen years.  I always tell people that my grandmother's name is Aunt Gen, my mother's name is Grandma, and I have a really good friend named Mom.  My dad was never around.  I had a step dad when I was 3 till I was 6. After they split, we moved back in with Grandma and Granddaddy and I stayed when Mom got married when I was 13.

I attended a private Christian school thanks to my Great Aunt.  She made sure I was grounded in God's word and I trusted Him at an early age.  My Grandma is a nurse and from the time I knew that nurses help people, that's what I wanted to do.  I finally finished school (after a bit of wandering) and have been a nurse for about 14 years now.  I have worked in the hospital on a heart, GI floor, in an endoscopy lab, and about 7 years in a few dialysis clinics, then God brought me to Hospice.  I love being with people who are in their final days.  I love being able to give their loved ones the tools to care for the patient at home.  I stand in awe of our God when I am lucky to be with someone at their passing. I cry with the families, I love the patients.  Sometimes all the crap of the "office" (the people who make the rules) gets to be nutty, but in the end, it's about the patients.

I named this blog Weezee's Wanderings because in my life, I have wandered quite a bit, physically, emotionally, spiritually.  Sometimes I feel I am wandering aimlessly through life in one way or another.  This may or may not turn out to be about those wanderings, but it will be a place to put what is going on in my warped little mind!
Hope you will  enjoy it!
